A slow sink, a tub that stands in water, a toilet that needs two flushes — most drain problems start small and get worse on their own. JB Plumbing clears kitchen, bathroom, laundry and floor drains for homes and businesses across Austin and Travis County, 24 hours a day, and tells you plainly whether what you have is a simple clog or the first sign of a sewer-line problem.
We start by asking which fixtures are affected. One slow drain is almost always a local clog — hair, soap scum, grease, food — and is cleared mechanically with a drain machine (auger) that cuts through the blockage rather than pushing it further down. When several drains back up at once, or a tub fills when the toilet flushes, the problem is downstream in the main line, and we diagnose it the same way a plumber should: with a camera, so you see what we see before anyone recommends anything. Heavy grease or scale build-up in a main line is cleared with hydro-jetting — high-pressure water that scours the pipe wall clean instead of just boring a hole through the blockage.
We don’t pour chemical drain openers into your pipes. They rarely clear a real clog, they sit in the line as a caustic hazard for whoever works on it next, and repeated use damages older pipes. If you’ve already used one, tell us when you call so our plumber can work safely.
Most kitchen clogs are grease that cooled in the pipe; most bathroom clogs are hair. A strainer in the shower, a grease jar by the stove, and running hot water after the disposal go a long way. If the same drain clogs every few months despite that, the line itself has a problem — a belly, a rough joint, root intrusion — and clearing it again is only buying time. We’ll tell you when that’s the case and what the real options are.
Drain cleaning is one of the most common calls we take, and one where an honest diagnosis saves the most money. Call (512) 663-3049 — we answer 24/7, estimates are free on most services, and you get a price before the work starts.
Kitchen, bath, laundry & floor drains
Sinks, tubs, showers, toilets, disposals and floor drains — cleared mechanically, not chemically.
Main-line & sewer clearing
Whole-house backups located and cleared, with a camera inspection when the symptoms point downstream.
Hydro-jetting
High-pressure water scours grease and scale off the pipe wall instead of boring a hole through the clog.
Honest next steps
If a drain keeps clogging, we tell you why — and what fixing the cause actually involves.

One slow fixture is almost always a clog. Several drains backing up at the same time, gurgling from other fixtures, water rising in a tub when the toilet flushes, or a sewer smell indoors points at the main line. Stop running water and call — that one gets worse on its own.
We’d rather you didn’t. They rarely clear a real blockage, they can damage older pipes, and they leave a caustic hazard in the line for whoever works on it next. A plunger is fine; if that doesn’t do it, call us.
Yes. JB Plumbing is open 24 hours a day with emergency service available, and most calls are returned within the hour. A sewage backup is an emergency — don’t wait for morning.
Yes. We price the work upfront after diagnosing the problem, and estimates are free on most services.
Hydro-jetting uses high-pressure water to scour the inside of a drain or sewer line clean. It’s the right tool for heavy grease, scale or recurring build-up in a main line — a mechanical auger clears a clog, jetting cleans the pipe. We’ll recommend it only when a camera shows it’s warranted.
