• Whether supply lines and drains in the wall are worth replacing while they’re exposed (old galvanized: yes).
• Shutoff valves at every fixture — cheap insurance while everything is open.
• Venting for any relocated fixture — every trap needs a vent path; islands need special handling.

Sequencing with the other trades

Rough-in plumbing happens after framing and usually alongside electrical, before insulation and drywall. It gets inspected before it’s covered. Booking the plumber early — at plan stage, not tile stage — keeps the schedule honest.

Permits and inspection

Moving or adding plumbing in Austin generally requires a permit and inspection. That protects you at resale — unpermitted plumbing surfaces in buyer inspections at the worst possible moment.
